Home for children without parental care is organized form of protection in which children without parental care, depending on their family circumstances and age, live longer or shorter time. During this time home provides social security, education, health care and preparing for independent living and work for this children

Despite the different content of work with children and young people, in the home we promote, follow and direct the physical and mental development of children, reveal preferences and abilities, meet the need for love, security and affirmation, build cultural, hygiene and work habits, form character traits  and build a constructive and active attitude towards life and social environment.

Users of this organized form of protection are children and young people without  parents, unfamiliar parents, abandoned by their parents, parents deprived of parental rights, parents with health problems, then children and young people from families with social and economic problems and families with disordered relations inside the family.

Home for children “Rada Vranjesevic” was founded in 1947. It exists on current location since 1974. In this Home is currently living 100 children and young people, grouped in 8 educational groups- families. Criteria  for establishing of educational groups are sex, chronological age of children and kinship ties, so that we have  pre-school group (nursery and kindergarten) for elementary and two high schools operating. Overall educational work with children and young adults in educational groups is carried by educators and educational profiles matched with age and developmental needs of children. In families in which live younger elementary school children, beside the educational staff, in immediate work with children is involved a woman “housewife” who carries out activities aimed at maintaining the hygiene of environment and development of cultural and hygienic habits of children and young people.

Professional team (director, psychologist, pedagogue and social worker) who contributes and solve certain issues and problems through counseling and instructions- corrective work, are daily available to children and educational personnel. With their engagement, development and implementation of various programs, team members contribute to reducing the risk of professional burnout of educational personnel, and information and referral to the contemporary trends in social protection, education and home’s pedagogy in general.

Professional bodies, beside the professional team, are: Pedagogic Council and Teachers’ Actives that work according to their own work programs. Within these professional bodies are considered matters of planning, implementation and evaluation of educational work with children and young people, improvement of care processes, improvement of conditions for realizing the set tasks, cooperation with factors out of Home, relevant to the work of Home (especially with the Centers for Social Work, schools, health and cultural organizations, NGOs, etc…)
In the House works also Home’s boar, as pedagogic and critical body through which children and young people express their own views of organizations of all life and work in the house, and give constructive suggestions to improve the quality of conditions and services in general.
The novelty in the organization of educational work is the formation of an educational group for young people who attend the final years of high school. The aim of forming this group was to provide a quality program preparing young people for independent living. Under the planned program activities are directed at developing and improving life skills and raising the level of autonomy in order to prepare young people for life after the life in the institution.

The plan is training and putting into operation existing facilities for the external pre-school groups, in which children from the local community are going to live, beside pre-school age children from the House. That will significantly contribute to the socialization of children from the house, expanding social networks and better preparation children for school.

Home is an open type institution, and provides implementation of project activities and facilities for numerous non-governmental organizations and civil associations, what contributes to raising awareness of youth on various current issues in the field of education, educational, social and cultural life, and, on the other hand, the expansion of the social networks of children and young people, which can help in integrating into the social environment after leaving the House.

With the organization of life and education of children and young people in the House we should always have in our mind the fact that neither the educational group, nor the House is family, but the everyday work and personal and professional engagement, educational and working staff try to provide an atmosphere of life in which every child feels protected, respected, safe and loved.
