About Institution  

ACTIVITIES
Home for Children without Parental Care was established in 1900. Home was located at several locations in the city of Sarajevo, and after World War II, it was at only one location, Bjelave, where it remains today . In many years Home changed names but activity remained the same, which is primarily service of  the entire care, education, health care for children without parental care and children whose development is hindered by family circumstances, as the acceptance of pregnant and first pregnant women, with children up to 6 months of age Service users of the Home for Children are children without parental care until the age of 18, especially, at the suggestion of the Centre for Social Work, Home for Children, children who need conditions for ending of school. Home is the institution of child and social protection, the stationary type, which combines the educational, health and medical and social-protection purposes. With the unity of these functions satisfactory conditions for the normal development of children, normal conditions for attending the training and education are provided. Activities of the Home have a temporary character because Home works on finding opportunities to return children to parents or permanent care in terms of adequate protection. The Home has five departments: Baby I, Baby II, Nursery, Preschool and School in accordance with the age of children.

ORGANIZATION CHART
Organization of work in Home for Children without Parental Care works through four service numbering, 58 employees, 73% of them is in direct work with children, 15% of employees are engaged in technical support through the work of central and dairy kitchens, laundry, doorman's booth. The administration, which is, besides the director, social worker, pedagogist and economist and it employs 12% of employees. It is important to mention that the work in the home for children takes all 24 hours continuously and the above mentioned employees are working in three shifts, so we can say that during one shift ,that lasts eight hours, on average 19 employees take care of children.

DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WELFARE
Social Welfare Department organizes and carries out activities in the social and health care. It deals with the acceptance and release of children. In order to optimize the care of the child, we cooperate with the department of care, taking care of marking all relevant observations regarding the development of the child during his stay in the Home. Due to the requirement of department of care, it provides and arrange the conditions for child’s contact with biological relatives, adoptive parents, foster parents or other persons depending on socio-therapeutic context.

DEPARTMENT OF PEDAGOGICAL WORK
Service for teacher educational work is primarily focused on the education of children of preschool and school children through age appropriate programs, living facilities, implementation and coordination of educational work, planning and implementation of extra-curricular activities and organization of leisure time of children, age appropriate, planned implementation of the work of volunteers , the practice of students, planning and realization of children's holidays: summer holidays, day trips, visits, the implementation of cooperation with schools, homes, institutions for helping children with special needs and behavioral problems.

DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE AND BUSINESS FINANCIAL AFFAIRS
Service for financial and general business operations has the task to create preconditions for lawful, timely, functional and successful performance of activities and achievement of the objectives of the institution. The complex tasks of this institution include: normative and legal affairs, personnel affairs, development of normative acts regulating the work of the Home for Children, organizing and managing the overall financial operations of the Home for Children, the study of work organization and suggesting measures for its improvement, provide legal opinions when making decisions of management bodies, and body control of the business establishment.

DEPARTMENT OF TECHNICAL AFFAIRS
Department of Technical Affairs is responsible for providing related technical preconditions for the realization of the basic business of the House. In this sense, providing service procurement and storage of foodstuffs and other goods, ensure the preparation of daily meals to the menu and threaten safety, quality and quantity of meals, organizes and implements cleaning and maintaining hygiene in the House, ensures conditions for observance technical requirements for safety at work, provides regular reviews and takes care of safety equipment and small tools.

ACTIVITIES
Children were included (depending on their age, school and other obligations) in daily activities,  of home as a place where they live, by adopting and developing the facilities necessary for everyday life.
Activities during the year:
1. Home for Children day
 2. Family Day at the SFF
 3. Participation in the event KIDS Festival
 4. Children's Sunday and a lot of meetings and gatherings at the city level and participation in meetings, children's homes in Bosnia in Medjugorje   

 1. Opening MESS - children's program,
 2. Marking the religious and national holidays,
 3.. The December festivities
4. Organizing summer and winter

In addition to these activities, the children of the Home for Children were celebrating birthdays during the year were in the house or in one of the playgrounds intended for those occasions, they were visiting their classmates at their homes or inviting them to Home’s celebrations.
Home for Children in the past year were visited by different groups of students, pupils and their teachers, preschool from Sarajevo, primary and secondary schools with whom they hung out together and implemented educational and entertainment programs, current and former students of Sarajevo University.
