Project for the Western Balkans: Improving competence in the field of child care according to UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Networking project of children's homes in the Western Balkans and the University of Agder.

Welcome to the conference in Sarajevo 23 - 25 October 2012.
CHANGES IN THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN IN NORWAY AND THE WESTERN BALKANS

University of Agder implements and develops a three-year project in the Western Balkans, in partnership with twelve homes for children. The project is supported by Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and aims to increase networking and competence in the field of child care.
The following homes for children is participating in the project:
Center for the Welfare Of Infants,Children And Youths - Belgrade / Serbia. Home for Children "Mistral" Split / Croatia Home for Children "Malči Belice Ljubljana / Slovenia. Home for Children "11 oktombri "Skopje / Macedonia. Home for Children "Rada Vranješević" Banja Luka / Bosnia and Herzegovina. Public control institution Home for children in Sarajevo / Bosnia and Herzegovina. Public institution for children without parental care Tuzla / Bosnia and Herzegovina. Home for Children and Youth "Peter Radovanovic" Uzice / Serbian. Home for Children Maribor / Slovenia. Home for Children "Porodica" Zenica / Bosnia and Herzegovina. SOS Children's Village "Dr. Milorad Pavlovic "Sremska Kamenica / Serbia. Children's Home "Vladimir Nazor" Karlovac / Croatia.


The conference will focus on recent developments in child care in Norway and in the Western Balkans. Changes in legislation, organizational and financial consequences and related activities will also be presented and discussed.

This information was sent to the responsible persons in the governments in the region-which primarily deal with child care, with directors of children's homes, Norwegian embassies in the region and relevant academic institutions.

The conference will be held at the Hotel Holiday Conference in Sarajevo. Costs of participating in the conference, accommodation and meals will be covered by the project for the Western Balkans. Participants must cover transport costs from their own funds.

The final program and the invitation letter for your confirmation will be forwarded  in  August 2012
